In 2003, Marcy rode at the International Academy for Equestrian
Studies in Warendorf, Germany, and also passed the exams required
for the Trainer B certification. She rode under Head Trainer Stephan
Kiesewetter, a Pferdewirtshaftsmeister who holds the 3rd highest
score ever given for the Meister exams at the German Riding School.
He has been Chief Training Conductor and Deputy Director at the
German Riding School, and coaches the German National Disabled
Equestrian Team as well. Another of Marcy's examiners was
Mr. Ralph-Michael Rash, a previous Director for the German Riding
School in Warendorf of 11 years.
Part of the course included doing an internship, and Marcy
went to Gestut Tasdorf located in Northern Germany. Tasdorf
is a breeding and training establishment of nearly 60 Holsteiner
and Trakhener horses. Marcy rode several 4 yr olds, and also started
a 3 yr old stallion. Ernst Hoyos, trainer of Lisa Wilcox and Ulla Salzberger,
came to Tasdorf regularly to coach the owner on her Grand Prix
mare, as well as ride some of the stallions in training.
Marcy's experience back at home is in starting young horses,
reschooling using dressage as therapy, and coaching owners to get the best out of
their horses. She has studied Mary Wanless "Ride With Your
Mind", a program emphasizing the rider's responsibility for balance and
self-control...as well as the principles of effective teaching and learning skills.
This led to several trips to California for Teacher Training seminars and riding
with Mary in Toronto in 2000.
Marcy's understanding and handling of horses comes from an entire lifetime with
horses, but also the psychological principles found in realms of Natural Horsemanship,
including Parelli, John Lyons, Monty Roberts, TEAM, Dr Miller, to name a few influences.
Marcy continues to study, to increase her own knowledge, skill and experience, and loves
to share it with others, combining her love for the horse with her passion for dressage.
